Google’s marketing strategy
Google has emerged as a famous brand as according to a survey done by Fortune magazine, which has ranked it at the top of the charts, even beating Microsoft. The increasing popularity of Google is not only because of its search engine’s capabilities, but also due to the expanding marketing strategy that has led it to becoming a major corporate hub. Currently, Google has expanded its services to include maps, videos, social portals and mobile services. With these listings of marketing strategies, Google has gained monopoly of the Internet as it surrounds the Internet user with all the services, thus allowing one to explore the Internet with better tools and utilities.
Apart from search engine capabilities, Google generates $654 million profit in advertisement marketing annually. The advertisements sector of Google has proven to be of crucial importance since there are very few competitors in the advertising sector of the Internet to provide users with better awareness of their products. Google’s ads are posted on almost 40% of websites as it allows the client better integration with the search results that the internet user is searching for. In fact, when a user types in a specific keyword the Google search results display the ads that match with the keyword of the search result. This is done through the process of search engine optimization (SEO), which has greatly enabled search results to be integrated with search results that include advertisements.
It has been Google’s aim to give an interactive Internet experience to its users by enabling them to stream in music and videos. This can be seen through Google’s acquisition of You Tube which was a popular site that enabled internet users to download videos and share it with friends. In fact, You Tube was one of the first interactive video sites, which were making a buzz as the latest trend on the Internet. Google’s acquisition of You Tube was in par with its marketing strategy as it seeks to acquire the latest trends on the internet that give the user a dynamic experience.
Orkut is another marketing feature of Google which helps it to invest in a bigger share of the social networking and messaging services. Through Orkut Google has created the identity or the profile of the Internet user as a search object in itself. Just as a user searches for information through a keyword, he can now access people as search objects. This ingenuity has enabled Google greater market access, which has in turn enabled it to list as many as 60 million users on Orkut.
The other marketing strategy that Google has introduced includes Google Earth, which is website that enables users to search the locations of places. As search is the major criteria on which google has based its products, it also seeks to present maps through its Google Earth utility, which provides users a dynamic experience.
Thus Google trends in terms of marketing strategy have enabled Google to focus on advertisements, and acquiring tools and utilities that are the latest trends on the internet.
